Halloween

(The pumpkin I carved as photographed by Frances)

I attended Frances and Adam's annual Halloween party this past Saturday. For years I had been hearing about this party. Frances is renowned for her Halloween party. It's the bash of the year. Unfortunately I arrived two hours late as I hitched a ride with Kate and Stuart who have become known for being late.

The party started off with Frances' famous game Assasins. You have to draw a name out of a bowl and then you have to find a way to corner that person alone. Once you have them alone you tell them "You're Dead" and they have to hand over the name of hte person they were supposed to 'kill'. That is, if they haven't already killed them before you get them. Lisa was the winner having offed four people.

I managed to at least make it difficult for Shawn. I figured out he was after me when he kept trying to get me alone. HA HA HA. So he resorted to handing me a camera and saying check out this picture. To the back of the camera he had taped "You're Dead". I thought it was inventive. He then had the job of going after the person I was supposed to off which was Jane.

I went to the party dressed as Hermione from Harry Potter. I got the wand that makes 'magic' noises and flashes. Everyone wanted a chance to give the wand a swish. I let Voula have a go and she didn't want to let it go. Jeremy eventually got annoyed at the noise and tried to take it away. Below is what happened to him as a result of trying to pry it out of Voula's hands!

(Careful Jeremy! She bits back!)

Kate won best costume with Greg and Mike taking second place. Kate won googly eye glasses.

The party wrapped up around 1am pre-fall back time. That was the great thing about this week-end - we gained an extra hour of sleep! Yay for daylight savings time!

Sunday I had made it my goal to find a church and attend mass. I had a hard time locating a Catholic church online. I finally found the Toronto Archdiocese website and I managed to find a church that was close to me. Originally the closest one I could find was a bus ride away. This one is within walking distance! It's called St. Anselms and it looks a lot like a church back home.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning. The sun was out for the first time in a long time. The church has so many stained glass windows and the sun was shining through casting the rainbow of hues across the marble floors. It was just comforting sitting there watching the rainbows dance across the aisle.

The church has a small choir which I might join at some point if they are accepting new members. But I got there early enough that I was able to sit and listen to them practice. They sang Amazing Grace and I absolutely loved the way their voices echoed throughout. They had fantastic harmony. I look forward to next week's mass.

After church I walked over to Shoppers on Bayview to get a prescription filled. Helen called me and so we decided to go for brunch. There just happened to be a Golden Griddle close by so we ate there. It was nice getting a chance to catch up with her.

I had originally planned to go to the movies with Frances but both of us ended up having far too much to do that day and decided to leave it for another day.

Last night I carved pumpkins with Auntie Carol for today when I will help her give out candy.
